Teacher Sketching for industrial design engineering
The Department of Design Production and Management (DPM) at the University of Twente (UT) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher in sketching for Industrial Design Engineering who is passionate about teaching design and visualisation skills to students, mainly in the bachelor programme of Industrial Design Engineering. Are you passionate about improving the learning experience of students? Then apply now!
In this position, you will share the responsibility of setting-up, teaching and coordinating the design and sketching courses with your colleagues and teach to students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the programme. The bachelor programmes at UT are taught in English.
As a teacher you will be involved in teaching and coordinating multiple bachelor level courses. Examples of which include:
- Design Sketching courses: The design sketching line consists of three courses. The first introduces students to the topic and teaches basic techniques, geometry and the fundamentals of perspective. The second follows with more in depth treatment of realism and marker rendering materials and techniques. The third course brings the former into the digital world and teaches the students digital drawing on a Wacom tablet and iPad using software like Procreate, Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro.
- Design and styling: Students in this course get familiar with the importance of socio-cultural parameters in design and practice with implementing these into the design of a personal product in which design and styling follow logically from the choices made earlier in the design process.
Next to this, teachers can be involved in mentoring (design) project teams and can advise on the set-up of new courses.
