For a project called BioMotive, with a large national consortium, we are looking for a highly motivated, structured, and enthusiastic person who can fill the position of junior project manager.

Our body is an impressive biomechanical system that is engineered for motion. Besides the musculoskeletal system, biomechanics can also describe the function of other physiological systems such as the cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems. To fully comprehend how these operate under real-life conditions, it is essential to study them during natural activities and physical exercise using non-invasive imaging techniques. The goal of BioMotive is to develop a biomechanical imaging infrastructure that allows for just that.

Therefore a unique MRI infrastructure is planned that overcomes the major limitation of conventional scanners, which limit the body’s position to be static and horizontal. For this, the installation of two complementary MRI systems is envisioned: an open 0.5T (mid-field) MRI at the University of Twente, and a 3T walk-in scanner at UMC Utrecht by 2030. Both systems will be equipped with auxiliary hardware such as motion-tracking systems, treadmills with force sensors and ergometers. Together, this will allow the development and validation of personalized biomechanical models.

Are you interested in joining the project at the UT to help organize the purchase, planning and installation of our new MRI scanner? We are looking for someone to streamline and take part in the process and enable a smooth transition from our current scanner to the next. This will entail working with a diverse group of people, from scientists to building managers and clinical end users.

Your profile

  • You preferably have a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Technical Medicine and an interest in medical imaging. You have affinity with managing tasks and have a structured problem solving approach.
  • You are an excellent team player with a pro-active mentality.
  • You are fluent in English and able to collaborate intensively with industrial and academic parties in regular meetings and work visits.

Our offer

  • We offer a full-time position for one year.
  • Your salary and associated conditions are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO-NU).
  • Gross monthly salary between € 3.382,- and € 4.484,- fulltime (depending on experience and qualifications, job profile ‘project leader 3’)
  • There are excellent benefits including a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, and a solid pension scheme.
  • A minimum of 232 leave hours in case of full-time employment based on a formal workweek of 38 hours. A full-time employment in practice means 40 hours a week, therefore resulting in 96 extra leave hours on an annual basis.
  • Free access to sports facilities on campus.
  • A family-friendly institution that offers parental leave (both paid and unpaid).
  • Excellent working conditions, an exciting scientific environment, and a green and lively campus.
