Education Assistant for Practicals in chemical science 0,5-0,8FTE

Do you want to creatively devise new experiments with your own input and develop promotional material for chip technology to get young people excited about this field? Then this vacancy at our education lab might be your dream job!
Engaging practicals can motivate students for chemistry and chip technology and require good educational and technical support. We are looking for an employee for additional laboratory support to maintain the quality of the practicals with an increasing number of students, and to create opportunities for chip technology examples in the practicals. Your duties consist of varied activities within student laboratories, with a strong focus on chemical science and engineering.
You will be responsible for preparatory and concluding work related to teaching practicals; the logistics surrounding the laboratories so that the practicals run as efficiently as possible; and instructing and supporting teaching assistants and students during practicals.
In addition, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the laboratory infrastructure in consultation with lecturers; contributing to the evaluation of practicals and providing suggestions for improvement; and contributing to activities and marketing materials that put the programmes in Chemical Science & Engineering and Advanced Technology on the map, such as open days, introduction days, and videos, particularly aimed at the chemical side of chip technology. This is done in collaboration with enthusiastic colleagues from other study programmes in a team that develops chip tech demo materials. This team also visits secondary schools.

About the department
The SLT group manages laboratory infrastructure for practicum education in the various degree programmes within the Faculty of Science and Technology. These laboratories include modern specialised laboratories for the domains of chemical science and engineering, applied physics, and (bio)medical engineering. The practicum group also manages project rooms and a universal laboratory for activities aimed at secondary school students and other target groups. Within the group, which consists of eight people, each staff member possesses their own expertise to produce high-quality and modern practicums in collaboration with scientific staff.
The activities in the teaching laboratories are planned, prepared, and supported in collaboration with study programmes and individual lecturers. Experiments are also developed and designed in collaboration with lecturers, and direct support is provided to senior staff and students. Due to the scale and diversity of the practicums and the variety of prerequisites of the different degree programmes, good logistical planning is essential.
The Education Assistant for Practicals is appointed to the Studenten Laboratoria Twente Group (SLT) within the Faculty of Science and Technology at the UT and reports hierarchically to the Head of the Studenten Laboratoria Twente Group.
